ブルックリンを拠点に活動するシンガー、ソングライター、プロデューサーのTim Atlas(ティム・アトラス)が待望のデビューアルバム『Enchanté』を本日リリースした。先行シングルとして「Stardust」も公開されている。
アーティストは、ややソウルやR&Bのテイストを残したキャッチーなインディーポップを中心に制作している。軽やかで清涼感のあるインディーポップをお好みのリスナーは要チェックのSSW。
フランス語で「初めまして」を意味する本作のタイトルは、ティムが作り出す新しい音楽の始まりを表現。「どのプロジェクトでも、もう少し自分自身を開示しようとしているんだ」と本人が語る様に、人間として、そしてアーティストとしての自己紹介のようであり、R&B、ネオ・ソウル、オルタナティブ、ベッドルーム・ポップなどの要素を大胆にブレンドする唯一無二の音楽にティム自身を投影し、これまで以上に様々な側面が垣間見れるアルバムとなっている。
2023年にEP「Le Soir」、2024年2月にはEP「Matinee」をリリースし、すでにストリーミング総再生回数が1億5,000万回超えるなど、世界中にファンを増やしてきたティム。EP収録曲はもちろん、それらに珠玉の未発表曲が加わった集大成とも言える本作に、ファンの期待は俄然高まっている。
実はアトラスはLA出身の歌手だという。本作は、ティム・アトラスがロサンゼルスからブルックリンに引っ越した直後に制作が始まった。転居をきっかけに新しいサウンドの開拓に挑戦し、音楽性を拡張することに成功。「全てにちょっとづつフランスの影響が残ってる...」そう話すティムがアルバムタイトルを『Enchanté』に決めたのはパリで友人の結婚式に出席した後だ。
彼自身が出席した結婚式のレセプションの華やかさからインスピレーションを受けて完成したというタイトル曲「Enchanté」は軽快なリズムを刻むビートの上で、気だるく艷やかに歌うティムの歌声が印象的。物語の主人公と重ね合わせて街中を颯爽と歩きたくなるような一曲となっている。
ティム・アトラスはライブ・イベントの側面でも盤石な人気を獲得しつつある。昨年秋には全米10カ所を回るヘッドラインツアーを敢行し、ニューヨーク、ロサンゼルス、サンフランシスコでの公演は軒並みソールドアウト。今年の秋には、LAを拠点に活動するインディー・ポップ・デュオ、スレンダーボディーズのオープニングアクトにも抜擢され、ツアーも予定している。
ティム・アトラスはこのアルバムに関して、リスナーへ次のように語っている。
「このアルバムを聴いて、自分自身に正直になって、やりたいことを何でもやってみようという気持ちになってもらえたら嬉しい。今までの人生で一番自分自身に満足している。音楽を愛する一人の人間として忠実であり続けようとしている。これが自分なんだ。」
デビュー作にして集大成でもあるこのアルバムは、ジャンルの垣根を超えて作り出されるティムの音楽のように、自分と向き合い一歩前へと踏み出そうとしている世界中のあらゆるリスナーの心に響き渡っていくだろう。

The title of this album, which means ‘Nice to meet you’ in French, represents the beginning of the new music Tim is creating. It is an introduction to Tim as a person and as an artist, as he says: ‘With every project, I try to disclose a bit more of myself’. The album offers a glimpse of Tim himself in more different facets than ever before.
Tim has already gained a growing fan base around the world with the EP ‘Le Soir’ released in 2023 and the EP ‘Matinee’ in February 2024, which has already been streamed more than 150 million times. The expectations of fans are suddenly rising for this album.
Atlas is actually a singer from LA. Work on this album began shortly after Tim Atlas moved from Los Angeles to Brooklyn. The move allowed him to explore new sounds and expand his musicality. ‘There's a little bit of French influence left in everything...’ Tim decided on the album title Enchanté after attending a friend's wedding in Paris.
The title track ‘Enchanté’, which was inspired by the wedding, features Tim singing in a languid, glamorous voice over a lively, rhythmic beat. It is a song that makes you want to walk briskly through the streets of the city, overlapping with the protagonist of the story.
Tim Atlas is also gaining a solid following on the live event side. Last autumn, he embarked on a 10-stop headline tour of the US, with sold-out shows in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. This autumn, they were also chosen as the opening act for LA-based indie-pop duo Slender Bodies, with whom they will also be touring.
Tim told listeners about the album.
'' hope this album inspires you to be honest with yourself and do whatever you want to do. I'm more satisfied with myself than I've ever been in my life. I'm trying to stay true to myself as a person who loves music. This is who I am."
This debut and culmination album, like Tim's genre-defying music, will resonate with listeners all over the world who are facing themselves and trying to step forward.

He first gained attention with the release of his EP All Talk! in 2018, which received enthusiastic support from radio stations and various media outlets. It has received a total of more than 150 million streaming plays. The band toured the US, playing a total of 10 dates in New York, Los Angeles and other cities, with a string of sold-out shows.
He has also supported the likes of Jungle Giants, Magic City Hippies and Goldroom, and has performed at The Great Escape Festival in the UK, Noise Pop in San Francisco and the M3F Festival in Arizona.
