本EPは、新曲 「Water's Edge」と既発曲 「Sunset on the Boat」「Repeating」「Ocean in the Palm 」の水や海にインスパイアされた4曲からなる楽曲集。ギターを中心とした控えめなメロディーにローファイなテクスチャーを融合させたMoshimoss独自のミニマルなアプローチで、束の間の儚い美しさをタイムレスなサウンドスケープへと昇華させている。
Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter BATTLEFLAGG (Battle Flag) has released a new EP, Solastalgia. (It was released in early January, but a press release arrived yesterday from his international management.)
He shares, "Solastalgia is defined by philosopher Glenn Albrecht in his
2005 article on the subject as “the homesickness you have when you are
still at home,” where you may find your home environment changing in
distressing ways. It is a lived evanescence of what you have always
known, like standing in one place as the life, memories and places fade
away. Unlike nostalgia, solastalgia is distressing and is often
attributed to environmental or other changes completely out of one's
control."
BATTLEFLAGG has found success in other musical projects
opening for the Ramones, Third Eye Blind, Cake and Train. He has
received acclaim from the likes of Atwood Magazine, Northern
Transmissions, and more.

The project of Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter, Jeff Hartwig, Battleflagg was conceived in 2020 after demoing a new set of songs and feeling the need to regain some agency in an age of personal, social and political unrest. Battleflagg is not so much a band but a collective of like-minded musicians and visual artists, formed during the pandemic to combat an age of creeping cynicism. With a sound that blends traditional rock instrumentation with ambient synths, drum loops and samples, Hartwig’s Battleflagg songs seek to straddle the Heartland/Americana/Indie rock divides, leaning into direct, heart-on-sleeve lyrics and arena-size, sing-along choruses.
Hartwig’s musical backstory is prolific. His first pro gig was opening for the Ramones as the lead singer of King Flux, made up of former members of punk rock innovators the Plasmatics, a show for which he was castigated by Johnny Ramone for jumping on Johnny's stage box during the opening set. After a year of powering through the downtown scene at CBGBs and other Lower East Side clubs, King Flux dissolved -- Richie Stotts, the band's founder, went on to grad school -- and Hartwig found himself opening as a solo act for bands on the Blues/Americana circuit, including The Holmes Brothers, Clarence Gatemouth Brown and Commander Cody.
Looking for a change of sound and scenery, the singer-songwriter moved to San Francisco in the late 90s, where he immediately fell into a thriving Indie/Americana/Punk scene. Fronting an Americana(ish) band called the Dangs, he established a strong following playing with then-rising bands Third Eye Blind, Cake and Train, who the Dangs opened for at the Fillmore Auditorium on the release of Train’s debut album. The Dangs also shared stages with many Americana/Indie acts while on tour, including Dave Alvin, The Connells, and Dash Rip Rock.
As the new Millenium approached, Hartwig inked a deal with About Records -- a UMG-distributed imprint formed by veteran music executive George Daly and producer/engineer Chuck Plotkin (Bruce Springsteen) -- as a solo artist, spending a year writing and developing songs for his first release. When About reorganized in the wake of the bursting dotcom bubble, however, Hartwig lost the momentum and was ready to make a change, this time to law school.
Over the next decade, Hartwig pursued a career in corporate law, all the while continuing to write songs and playing the occasional live show. In 2019, with numerous demos in hand and a new desire to be a part of the democratization of music distribution, Hartwig contacted Brit-Award winning producer, Chris Potter (Richard Ashcroft, Rolling Stones), who agreed to produce Battleflagg's first EP, The Blood Meridians, which was released by Hartwig's own label, Resolute Juke, in November 2022. The Blood Meridians was recorded in London and the south of England and would feature talent from both the UK and US, including the guitar work of Rob Marshall (Humanist) and Steve Wyremann (Richard Ashcroft), the drumming of Steve Sidelnyk (Seal), and the soul-searing vocals of Miko Marks.
After the release of The Blood Meridians, Hartwig again set the production process in motion. Upon hearing Sharon Van Etten's hit single, "Mistakes", and loving the sonic vibe, he reached out to its producer, Daniel Knowles (SVE, Cigarettes After Sex), to see if Mr. Knowles would have interest in producing his upcoming EP. Knowles listened to the demos and readily agreed to be a part of the project. After almost 18 months of recording and mixing, the new EP, Solastalgia, is out now. Co-produced by Knowles and Battleflagg, the breadth of musical collaborators on Solastalgia even exceeds that of The Blood Meridians and includes members of The War on Drugs, Ethel Cain, Japanese Breakfast and Elvis Costello.
When asked what he hopes people would take away from listening to his new music, Hartwig says "When listening to these songs, I want the listener to understand, and feel the power of, the simple snapshots described within, and how such moments are common to many. Hopefully, in understanding that the experiences in the songs are common to all of us, particularly in the face of massive change, the listener will find a deeper connection to the people and places around them."

EP『Flourish』はSpotifyの 「New Music Friday UK/NL/BE 」に選出され、「The Most Beautiful Songs in the World 」プレイリストでも紹介された。2024年5月、Gearbox Recordsと契約。自身のUKヘッドライン・ツアー、ステフ・ストリングスやVraellのオープニングをUK各地で務めたほか、ハリソン・ストームとのEU/UKツアーもソールドアウトさせた。
このオリジナルライヴセッションのミニアルバムは、ドーターのメンバー、エレナ・トンラ、イゴール・ヘフェリ、レミ・アギレラのトリオが、『Stereo Mind Game』の収録曲の多くが録音されたイギリスのダートムーア近郊の”ミドルファームスタジオ”に戻り、シングル曲「Be On Your Way」、「Party」、「To Rage」を含む曲を演奏、それを録音した作品となっている。
7年ぶりのスタジオ・アルバム『Stereo Mind Game』は、2023年4月に4ADからリリースされた。ラフ・トレード・ショップの「アルバム・オブ・ザ・マンス」に選ばれた。このアルバムの発売を記念したライブセッション「Daughter's only live show to support Stereo Mind Game」は、インディー小売店のイースト・ロンドンの旗艦店で行われた。
3枚目のアルバムには、ロンドンのストリングスを中心とするオーケストラグループ「12 Ensemble」が伴奏を務めたシングル「Swim Back」、「Party」、「Be On Your Way」、さらにカルテットの伴奏による温かみのあるサウンドが自慢の「To Rage」が併録されている。
Daughterは従来、ダークな感情を載せてインディーフォーク/ロックソングを歌ってきた。他方、『Stereo Mind Game』は楽観的なアルバムと称される。アイヴォア・ノヴェロ賞にノミネートされたサウンドトラック『Music From Before The Storm（ミュージック・フロム・ビフォア・ザ・ストーム）』（2017年）から数年間、ドーターは当初のロンドンの拠点から離れて、アギレラはオレゴン州ポートランドに、ヘフェリはイギリスのブリストルに拠点を移した。
しかし、パンデミックによって悪化した物理的な距離にもかかわらず、ドーターは再び出会い、執筆を続けた。『Stereo Mind Game』の12曲には繋がりと断絶が浸透しており、愛する人や自分自身から文字通り、そして比喩的にも”離れることが何を意味するのか”に取り組んでいる。ヘフェリとトンラのプロデュースによる最新作『Stereo Mind Game』は、デヴォン、ブリストル、ロンドン（イギリス）、サンディエゴ（カリフォルニア州）、ポートランド（オレゴン州）、バンクーバー（ワシントン州）など、複数の場所で作曲・レコーディングされた。
コンピレーションは、エイフェックス・ツインがヒューストンで開催された「Day for Night」フェスティバルの一環として、8年ぶりに北米で開催されたイベントで、これらのオリジナル・レコードの最初の作品『Houston, TX 12.17.16』が同様に予告なしにリリースされてから7年後に到着した。
現在モロッコのタンジェに滞在し、ニューアルバムの制作に取り組んでいるAlex Henry Foster(アレックス・ヘンリー・フォスター)が、今年度3作目のリリースとなるEP『A Whispering Moment』を本日リリースします。
今年は、 4月に日本人アーティストとコラボレーションしたアルバム『Kimiyo』と、9月にインストゥルメンタルのみのアンビエントアルバム『A Measure Of Shape And Sounds』をリリースしており、 昨年の心臓手術によって思うように活動ができなかった時間を取り戻すかのように精力的に活動している。
そして、今回は彼が2018年にリリースしたソロデビューアルバム『Windows in the Sky』を記念して、EP『A Whispering Moment』をリリース。

そんなAi Kakihiraは来年1月に沖縄県にて開催される"Music Lane Festival Okinawa 2025"に出演することが決定している。同イベントは、主にアジア各都市から音楽関係者を招きアーティストとのマッチングを行なう目的で開催されている。沖縄とアジアの音楽ネットワーク構築、沖縄市（コザ）発の新たな音楽産業の創出などを目指す国際ショーケース・フェスティバルとなっている。今後、南日本(九州以南)地域のミュージックシーンを盛り上げる活動にも注目しましょう。

◾️「Listen and Believe」 KEFの主催するポッドキャスト収録が11/7に開催
イギリスのオーディオメーカー、KEFの主催するトークイベント「Listen and Believe」が11/7(木)にKEF Music Gallery Tokyo(南青山)にて開催された。この日は15名ほどの観客を前に魅力的なポッドキャスト収録が行われた。（メーカーの特集記事はこちらからお読み下さい）
即興で作るインストゥルメンタル・ミュージックに対する情熱から誕生した同プロジェクトでは、それぞれが持つ感受性を武器に、ダンサブルで独特の雰囲気を持った作品作りを心がけている。2020年1月、デビュー・シングル「Village Of The Sun」を、4月にはセカンド・シングル「Ted」を配信リリース。
その後、2022年9月に2年半ぶりとなる新曲「Tigris」をリリース。10月には更なる新曲「The Spanish Master」を、そして11月にはファースト・アルバム『ファースト・ライト』を発売。2023年5月、ビルボードライブ東京にて初来日公演を実施。2024年10月、同公演からのライヴ音源を収録したデジタルEP『Village Of The Sun, Live in Tokyo』を配信リリース。

本日、Kim Gordon（キム・ゴードン）はセカンド・ソロ・アルバム『The Collective』のデラックス・エディションをMatadorからリリースした。このアルバムには、オリジナル曲と合わせて、先にリリースされたシングル「ECRP」と新曲「Bangin' On the Freeway」が追加収録されている。デジタルに続いて、12月13日にフィジカル・デラックス・エディションがリリースされる。

Indigo De Souza（インディゴ・デ・ソーザ）が新作EP『Wholesome Evil Fantasy』をサプライズ・リリースした。このEPは、ノースカロライナ州アッシュヴィルのシンガー・ソングライターが2023年に発表したフルアルバム『All Of This Will End』に続く作品である。
2021年の『Windflowers』に続き、通算7作目のスタジオ作品となる『Things We Have In Common』をリリース。この3年ぶりのアルバムで、2019年の『Altid Sammen』で始まり、『Windflowers』と続いたひとつの輪を閉じます。この3作において、よりシンプルで包括的な表現への扉を開くものであり、人間のつながり、人間と自然の関係、集団的な精神性と帰属というテーマを探求してきました。
『Things We Have In Common』において、マッズ・ブラウアー、ラスマス・ストールバーグ、キャスパー・クラウセンのトリオとともにエフタークラングを結成した創設メンバーで、2007年の2ndアルバム『Parades』を最後に脱退したピアニスト／作曲家のルネ・ムルゴーが久しぶりに深いレベルで関わり、9曲中7曲を共作しています。
ルネ・ムルゴーの他にも多くのミュージシャンが参加。ベイルートことザック・コンドンをはじめ、フィンランド人ドラマー、タトゥ・ロンコ、ベネズエラ人ギタリスト、ヘクトル・トスタ、グアテマラ人チェリスト／シンガー、マベ・フラッティが重要なコラボレーターとなっています。またヨハン・ヨハンソンやダスティン・オハロランなどとの仕事で知られるイタリア人エンジニア、フランチェスコ・ドナデッロもこのアルバムに重要な足跡を残しており、「Animated Heart」と「To A New Day」で歌っているサウス・デンマーク少女合唱団も同様に重要な役割を果たした。
またコペンハーゲン・オペラ・フェスティバルの一環として、没入型オペラ『LEAVES: The Colour of Falling』を共作。2019年にはベルギーのバロック・アンサンブルB.O.Xとのコラボレーションによる全編デンマーク語のアルバム『Altid Sammen』をリリース。2021年の『Windflowers』に続き、2024年最新作『Things We Have In Common』をリリース。映画のような魅惑的な楽曲と、不朽の実験性と包容力で、長年にわたって熱狂的なファンを増やしてきた。
アメリカのフォークシンガー、Cass McCombsがサプライズアルバム『Seed Cake On Leap Year』をDominoからリリースした。本作はアーティストの初期の未発表曲を収録。渋さと円熟味を兼ね備えたアルバムで、シンガーソングライターの若い時代の音楽的な魅力を再訪出来る。
1999年から2000年にかけてキャス・マコームスがバークレーに住んでいた頃、サンフランシスコのフルトン924番地にあるジェイソン・クイーバーのアパートで録音された初期の未発表曲集『Seed Cake On Leap Year』。1990年代後半のサンフランシスコのベイエリアには、Papercuts、Casiotone for the Painfully Alone、Chris Cohen's Curtains、Mt.Egyptなど、特別なアーティストのコミュニティが存在した。最大限の誠実さと親密さがモットーで、音楽は親しい友人とだけ共有されることが多かった。グラフィティ・ライター、スケーター、60年代の古株たちは、決して遠い存在ではなく、心の片隅にもいなかった。
常に前へ、前へと進むというマインドセットを貫いたマッコムスのキャリアにおいて、この時期は短いながらも実りの多い時期であった。『Seed Cake On Leap Year』の驚くべき点は、これらの楽曲がいかに生き生きと生々しく、洞察と驚きに満ち、まだ来ていないものすべてと対話しながら残されているか、ということ。

カナダのシンガー・ソングライター、Charlotte Day Wilson(シャーロット・デイ・ウィルソン)が、最新アルバム『Cyan Blue』収録曲のリワーク3曲を収録した『Live at Maida Vale EP』をリリースした。このEPでは、ジャズ風のアレンジに加えて、シンガーの圧倒的な歌唱力を堪能できる。
特別バージョンのEPには、「Cyan Blue」、「Sleeper」、「I Don't Love You」のライヴ・バージョンが収録されており、いずれも象徴的なMaida Valeスタジオで行われたベンジーBのBBCラジオ1の番組のために録音された。
